ASU Brand Identity

SEEING ASU IN A NEW LIGHT

In 1995, Arizona State University engaged Esser Design to establish a comprehensive University-wide branding program, addressing the more than 200 logos then in use. The new symbol needed to unify the institution and stand the test of time. The resulting brand and identity standards encompassed a holistic review of all assets, with updated identity components—including consistent typography, color palettes, and modern file formats.

THE FUTURE CONTINUES TO LOOK BRIGHT

At launch, the new ASU brand identity was supported by promotional materials that highlighted the symbol’s role in representing the University as a source of enlightenment for the community. The initial Standards and Guidelines were delivered in print, and since then, Esser Design continues to advise on updates to the identity and standards as ASU’s brand positioning grows and evolves.
